Carlton Hugh Cargle

Carlton Hugh Cargle, age 82 of the Little Sand Mountain Community in Armuchee, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Cargle was born in the Little Sand Mountain Community om May 4, 1937, son of the late Huston C. Cargle and Mamie Grace Ward Cargle. He was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church, was a self employed Farmer and Pulpwooder. Carlton loved to work on the farm, and enjoyed seeing people and selling produce at Trade Day. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cargle was preceded in death by sisters, Dot Milam, Lola Mathis and Geneva Gentry and brothers, Houston Cargle and Billy Cargle.

Mr. Cargle is survived by his wife, Gumelda Helms Cargle; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Alex Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Billie Cargle; sister, Ruth Rench; brother, Shorty Cargle; grandchildren, Justin and Reba Cargle, Cynthia and Brandon Butler, Tabitha Brown, Samantha and Matt Fowler, Ashley Dooley, Daniel Dooley, Michael Dooley, and Sarah Fowler; great grandchildren, Hanna Cargle, Emma Butler, Ben Butler, Presley Cook, Brantley Smith, Tripp Butler, Harper Cargle and Weslynn Fowler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cargle will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Myles Phillips and Rev. Steve Spear officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Reece, Jimmy Reece, Justin Cargle, Ron Smith, Tony Rench, Daniel Dooley, Brandon Butler and Matt Fowler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Smith, Roy Dodd, Willard Graham, Horace Quinn, Randle Brown, Ron Wright, Chris Morris, Larry Schlachter and the men of Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church.

Mr. Cargle will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. On Tuesday, Mr. Cargle will be carried to the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church where he will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Little Sand Mountain Cemetery Fund or to the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Mission Fund.
