Effie Cleveland Gardner

Mrs. Effie Cleveland Gardner, age 85, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday January 4, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Gardner was born August 15, 1934, in Menlo, GA, the daughter of the late John William and Nannie Searles Cleveland. Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and was owner and operator of G&G Trucking.  She enjoyed her hobbies which included crocheting, sewing, gardening, and baking.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Leon Gardner, Sr.; brother, Bennie Cleveland; sisters, Mae Simonds, Loreene Edwards, and Mary Slayton.

Survivors include her children, Clifford L. Gardner, JR, Angie and Billy Stallings, Helen Teague, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Wilburn & Mary Gardner, sister-in-law, Nell Speers, Peggy Clark, special niece Linda & Ron Marsh, and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Teague officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Issac Holder, Isaiah Holder, Michael Teague, Ken Teague, Lance Stallings, Robert Cleveland, and Mike Cleveland.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gardner will lie in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
