Brief Scare: Student Brings Unloaded Gun To School
Trion City Schools went on lockdown of its campus Monday around noon when a sixth-grader was found to have an unloaded pistol in his backpack.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department responded with the sheriff and deputies plus the system’s School Resource Officer.
Law enforcement searched lockers, interviewed students and had deputies in the hallways.
The student was arrested.
“We followed our safety protocol,” School Superintendent Dr. Phil Williams said. “There is no danger.”
By around 1 p.m. the school was taken off lockdown.
The student is being turned over to juvenile justice.
