Claude Hoyt Hampton

Mr. Claude Hoyt Hampton, age 84, of Cloudland, GA, died Thursday, February 20, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Hampton was born August 27, 1935, in Cloudland, GA, son of the late William Ira and Charlotte Maude Tallent Hampton.  He was a man of God and was Christian by faith.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed with J.P. Smith Lumber Company.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hampton was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Ann Hollingsworth Hampton; a son, Rickey Lamar Hampton; and a grandson, David Guffey.

Survivors include a son, Terry Hampton; daughters, Lisa Hampton, Brenda Guffey, Barbara Hampton, and Linda Erwin; a sister, Ruth Campbell; grandchildren, Carrie Patty, Kayla (Kevin) Hartline, Levi Smith, Christy Downey, Steven Downey; great-grandchildren, D.J. Etchison, Karson Hartline, Brayden McCowen, Sierra Downey, and Anthony Downey.

Funeral services for Mr. Hampton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 23, 2020, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Minter officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Brian Bishop, Junior Dawson, Kenneth Bates, Max Tucker, Donald Ray Gaskey, and Dale Pevehouse.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Hollingsworth, Steven Downey, Donnie Downey, and Danny Brown.

Mr. Hampton will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Sunday.
