This is the emergency declaration that has been signed today by City of Summerville and Chattooga County. It requires restaurants to serve take-out only and restricts groups of more than 10 at our public parks and certain bid procedures due to the emergency. It will go into effect at 6:00 PM Monday March 23, 2020 and expire on March 31, 12:00 PM unless extended. This is to coincide with Governor’s Kemp state wide school closure for that time period.
Town of Trion, Town of Lyerly and City of Menlo are expected to sign over the next several days as well.
We know the effect this will have on restaurants, but we encourage residents to use the take out option for meal service and to remember our local businesses during this time. Meals and prepared food are safe for consumption and this is to better encourage social distancing.
