Carrie Mell (Wood) Mitchell
Ms. Carrie Mell Mitchell, age 86, of Menlo, GA, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020, at her residence.
Ms. Mitchell was born March 31, 1934, in Cherokee County, AL, daughter of the late Coleman Hill Wood and Edra Helms Wood. She was of the Baptist faith, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Kenneth “Kenny” Mitchell; a daughter, Cathy Mitchell; a brother, Dewond Wood; and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Spunkey and Cindy Mitchell; grandchildren, Stacy and Jennifer Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, and Jordan Davenport; great-grandchildren, Macy Mitchell Brush, Allie Mitchell, Eme Mitchell, and Joce Mitchell; great-great-granchild, Delta James Brush.
Due to gathering restrictions, services for Ms. Mitchell will be held privately for immediate family only with Rev. Kevin J. Norton officiating. Private interment will follow at Lyerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Stacy Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Max Treadaway, and Jeff Smith.
