Nick Stoner

Mr. Clifford David “Nick” Stoner, age 83, of Lyerly, GA, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Stoner was born July 29, 1936, in Lyerly, GA, son of the late James T. and Elsie Powell Ragland.  He was Baptist by faith, and prior to his retirement, owned and operated Ragland Oil and Tire.  He was also a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a 1st Lieutenant with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He earned his Senior Wings while serving in Okinawa and the Philippines.  Mr. Stoner was also a member of the Summerville-Trion Rotary Club and the Georgia Oilmen’s Association. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stoner was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph H. Potter and William “Bill” Potter.

Mr. Stoner is survived by his wife, Mary McCrickard Stoner; daughters, Kristy Stoner Brown and Julie Stoner Schill; a brother, James T. “Jim” Ragland, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Jean Wyrick; and grandchildren, Chase Brown, William Knutson, Lily Knutson,  and Poppy Schill.

Due to the current guidelines and restrictions that have been set forth by the C.D.C. and the State of GA as it pertains to social gatherings, a private funeral service for the immediate family only will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers will be all the men of the Liar’s Table at Jim’s Family Restaurant. 

Visitation will also be held privately for the immediate family only.
