John Wesley “J.W.” Mitchell
Rev. John Wesley “J.W.” Mitchell, age 75, of Gaylesville, AL, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at his residence.
Rev. Mitchell was born August 14, 1944, in Jamestown, AL, son of the late Doyle Deloss and Bertha Beatrice Ingle Mitchell. He was a Christian by faith and an ordained minister and member of Faith Baptist Church. He was an electrician by trade, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. Rev. Mitchell was a respected and dearly loved husband, father, brother, uncle, and pawpaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Mitchell and Roy Mitchell; a sister, Esther Lynn Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Langston Mitchell; sons, Billy Mitchell, Tim (Lisa) Mitchell; a daughter, Angie (Richard) Chumbler; sisters, Betty Sue (D.C.) Sanford, Evelyn Burleson; grandchildren, Weston (Sherry) Mitchell, Ross Mitchell, Tamara (Bradley) Mitchell, Nathan (Hunter) Harrell;great-grandchildren, Paisyn Harrell, Daxton Harrell, Brooklyn Mitchell, Briley Mitchell, Angel Mitchell, Lizy Mitchell, and Awston Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Rev. Mitchell will be held at 4:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Koonce officiating. Active pallbearers will be Darrell Mitchell, Tracy Mitchell, Greg Mitchell, Terry Rowlls, Nicky Langston, and Tyler Langston. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Todd, Mike King, LaVon Graves, and Donnie Wynn.
Visitation will be held privately.
The Mitchell family along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home encourage anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings.
