Dies January 3, 2022
Vance Elliott Adams, 83, Summerville, died Monday at his residence.
Mr. Adams was born July 17, 1938, in Lynch, Ky., son of the late Arthur and Petrinellia Mae Finley Adams. He was a Baptist and prior to his retirement, he was employed with the United States Postal Service. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents, daughters, Shanda Denise Adams and Olivia Ramona Adams; son, Stephen Elliot Adams; sister, Portia Vaughn and a brother, Artemus L. Adams died earlier.
Surviving are his son, Omar S. Johnson; daughter, Bridget S. Adams; brother, Ahmed Adams and grandchildren, Kaniel Gates and Julius Adams.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114) with military honors and the Rev. Melvin Mosley officiating.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Mason Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday (today).
Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
