Dies June 30, 2018

Bill Thomas, 73, Trion and formerly of Gordon County, died Saturday at his residence surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on Jan. 21, 1945 to the late James Francis Thomas and Ardith Thrift Thomas. He was a member of the Church of God. Bill was a former Gordon County Sheriff’s deputy and had also worked for Piggly Wiggly. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, his wife, Elaine Shepard Thomas and his sister, Sara Thomas died earlier.
Surviving are two sons, Billy Thomas Jr., Chattanooga, Tenn. and Joe Thomas and his wife Sandy, Trion; step-daughters, Penny Bradley and her husband Donald, Calhoun, and Sandy Logan and her husband Doug, Calhoun; brothers, Jimmy Thomas and his wife Martha, Jacksonville, Fla., and Bobby Thomas, Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Jennings officiating. Burial was in Chandler Cemetery.
Thomas Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
