Changes Coming To 911
Message from Chattooga County E-911 Directors:
“As you are aware, Chattooga County EMA E911 has been in the process of installing a new phone system. Our vendor is in the last stages of the installation and has notified us that they plan to switch our phone system over on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 9, 2019, or on Thursday morning January 10, 2019. Once this new system is in place we have implemented an automated directory for the non-emergency/administrative phone lines, 706-857-3400 and 706-857-3403.
Public safety responders and the public calling in on these lines will be directed to press a number to be forwarded to the party they need. We are sure this will save our 911 operators from having to transfer calls to the front office when they are busy in dispatch and their attention is on emergency calls and radio traffic with our public safety responders. As always, dialing 911 is reserved for emergency calls only and all non-emergency business should be handled on the administrative lines. You will be prompted to press (0) for the 911 dispatch room, (1) for the E-911 Director and records custodian office and (2) for the EMA Director and mapping and addressing office. We thank you all for your patience and assistance in implementing our new phone system.”
