If you think you have leadership skills and are interested in making an impact in the local community, Cindy Rivers at the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce would like to hear from you.
The chamber is currently seeking a dozen candidates to participate in its annual Leadership Chattooga program.
“We’re trying to provide emerging community leaders of all ages a way to become more aware of this community’s needs and issues,” said Rivers, chamber executive director. “We want them to better understand how the community works.”
Rivers said Leadership Chattooga will have an orientation meeting on Feb. 28, with Heather Herring Casey, a professional leadership coach, overseeing.
The groups will then meet one day a month (the third Thursday) from March to November, except for July.
Meetings will include classroom instruction and field trips, including one to Atlanta to meet with political and state government leaders.
“We want people who are curious about their community and who want to find ways they can be better citizens,” said Rivers. “Leadership Chattooga is a way to grow yourself.”
The full price for the course is $325. Chamber members get a $25 discount.
Anyone needing more information or interested in signing up for Leadership Chattooga should contact Rivers at 706-857-4033. Information is also available at the chamber website, chamber@chattoogacounty.org.
The deadline to sign up is Feb. 21.
