Summerville Named Among Georgia’s Safest Cities

An online security firm has ranked the city of Summerville as one of the safest cities in Georgia again.
Summerville dropped to second place in statewide rankings for 2019, according to SafeWise Inc.
SafeWise uses FBI Crime Report statistics from 2017 to calculate the top cities. Those with a population of fewer than 4,000 were eliminated from the report.
“We’re pleased to add 11 new cities to Georgia’s safest this year. That means 78% of last year’s top cities made the cut again, and the top two (Senoia and Summerville) each reported zero violent crimes in 2017,” according to SafeWise. “Senoia pulled the top spot thanks to its low property crime numbers—just 39 total compared to Summerville’s 48.”
Summerville has consistently ranked well in SafeWise’s reports.
“The city’s previous rankings include:
* First place in 2018
* Fourth place in 2017
* First place in 2016
* Third place in 2015

    Pit bulls and their owners are safe. In Summerville, a loose, vicious dog can charge an elderly woman in her own yard and the friendly folks from Animal Control will return it to the yard it escaped from! Not home? No worries! They’ll leave a little note on the gate asking you to pretty please contain your mauler.
