Three People Have Announced To Run For Probate Judge Post

The coming retirement of Chattooga County Probate Judge Jon Payne is generating some political interest.
Already three people have announced their intentions of replacing the probate judge after next year’s election
The first person to announce was Derrick Eckroat back in March. He is a paramedic with Redmond EMS. He’s worked in that field for 16 years.
Then about a month ago campaign signs started showing up around the Lyerly community announcing Attorney Holley Strawn was making a move for the probate post. She is a former attorney at Cook and Connelly law firm.
The latest entrance into the race is Teresa Pope. She is one of the secretaries and election administrators working for Judge Payne.
Pope announced her candidacy during Monday night’s Christmas parade in downtown Summerville. She rode through the parade on the back of a red convertible car with a campaign sign on the door.
Although these three have announced their intention to run, the official qualifying dates are March 2-6. The general primary election isn’t until May 19.
