Local Pedestrian Killed In Gore

A fatal accident involving a pedestrian is being investigated by Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department and the Georgia State Patrol this morning.
A pedestrian in his mid-40s was struck on John Jones Road about a half mile or less from Hwy. 27. Sheriff Mark Schrader said it was dark and rainy and the driver said they did not see the pedestrian.

The man struck and killed has been identified as Chris “Slim” Lewis, according to the sheriff.
“It was actually raining and dark at the time it happened,” the sheriff said. “It’s just one of those bad things. He was headed to work.”

The incident is under investigation.
