Bobby Lang Helms
Rev. Bobby Lang Helms, age 86, of Trion, GA, went home to be with the Lord Saturday- August 10, 2019, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Rev. Helms was born August 20, 1932, in Sand Rock, AL, son of the late George Edward and Orlean Moseley Helms. He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the United States Army where he served for 26 ½ years. He had also been employed with the Roper Corporation. He had pastored at Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church as well as many other churches throughout Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, and Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Helms was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ledford Helms; sons, Johnny Helms, Donnie Helms, and Richard Louis Helms; a daughter, Mary Elaine Helms Witt; sister Jeanette McGraw, and brothers, Johnny Helms, James William “Buddy” Helms, and George Helms.
Rev. Helms is survived by his son, Stephen (Amy) Helms; sister, Gumelda(Carlton) Cargle; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Rev. Helms will be at 1:00 Wednesday at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Shores, Brother Doyle Waters, Pastor Corey Wright, and Mr. Tripper Burnette officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens with full Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be Brad Groce, Stephen Witt, Stephen Helms, II, Jose Flores, Adam Burnette, Brady Groce, Evan Witt, Steven J. Helms, and Baxley Burnette. Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and members of Welcome Hill Baptist Church.
Rev. Helms will lie in state and the family will receive friends at Mason Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
