Mrs. Nell Blalock Dodd, 82, Gaylesville, Ala., died Wednesday morning in a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Dodd was born in Cherokee County, Ala., on July 27, 1937, to the late Clavin and Don Hartline Blalock. Mrs. Dodd was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church and was retired from Harriett-Henderson Mills. Her husband, Billy Joe Dodd died earlier.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia (Greg) Bentley; sons, Dale (Regina) Dodd, Herbert (Michelle) Dodd, Randy Dodd and Joe Dodd; sister, Kathryn Vernon; brothers, Billy Blalock, Ronald Blalock and Harold Blalock; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Pariton, Chad Dodd and Cody Bentley officiating. Interment will be in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Sam and Ann Hadspeta, Jane Canada, Mike Dodd and Leon Dodd.
The family will receive friends today from noon until 2 p.m. E.S.T. at the funeral home.
Earle Rainwater Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
