Alvin Junior Ray
Alvin Junior Ray, age 93, of Gaylesville, AL, died Friday, June 26, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Ray was born May 30, 1927, in Rhinehart, AL, son of the late Porter Alvin and Della Rhinehart Ray. He was a member of Pleasant Valley # 1 Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Heil Environmental. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II. Mr. Ray was an avid sports fan; especially of the Alabama Crimson Tide. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Ray; grandson, Stephen Addison; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Shearian Ray; sons, Lamar Addison, Michael (Tricia) Ray, Randall Ray, Darryl (Carla) Ray; daughters, Joyce Battles, Victoria Robbins, Pamela Porter, Kimberly (Michael) Reynolds, Sharon Linder, and Melba Kolman; brother, Gene (Rosemary) Ray; sisters, Maggie Tallent and Beatrice Reynolds; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Ray will be held at 3:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Monday, June 29, 2020, at Mount Zion Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Berry and Pastor Briggs King officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Battles, Russell Addison, Koby Addison, Tyler Ray, Michael Reynolds, and T.J. Miller.
Visitation will be held privately.
The Ray family along with the Staff of Mason Funeral Home encourage those in attendance to bear in mind the current guidelines and restrictions that have been set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings.
